So a while ago I decided I wanted to start a blog, just to have a space to rant or talk about things I like and don't like. So to start off, because im a media student, and really into my films, im going to rank my top 10 Favourite Films Of All Time. This is going to be tough. (These are not in order!)
1. Iron Man
It has to be said, im in love with Robert Downey Jr., and so the Iron Man trilogy are definitely up there. However, the first one will forever be my favourite. Bob's acting was tremendous, as always, he looked beautiful, as always, and omg just Iron Man. It was the first film I saw with Bob in and I thought I wouldn't like it because it seemed like a complete action film, but its really good. The story line is great, and I can't get over the sass coming from Tony Stark. I highly recommend all the Iron Man films.
2. Pirates of the Caribbean
A Johnny Depp classic. Johnny Depp is another of my obsessions. I think he is just such a good actor, and such an interesting person. He seems so confident in all his films, but so shy in interviews. I couldn't possibly pick my favourite POTC film, they are equally brilliant. There is enough comedy in there to make the story more than just guns, fights and explosions. Captain Jack is such a hilarious character, with the way he moves and talks. Everything about him is perfect. I also really like the fact that they built the actual boats for filming, none of it is green screen, for the boats. I think that's really cool.
3. Mean Girls
Whether you're male or female, if you say you don't like this film you're lying to yourself. Even my 20-year-old, tattooed brother knows this film word for word. We have to watch it in sociology when we're talking about subcultures, that's not until September, but everyone is begging to do subcultures early so we can watch it now. There are so many things I could say that are brilliant and hilarious, but im just going to say if you haven't seen it, watch it. You will not regret it!
4. Snow White and the Huntsman
So, I know this film got a lot of bad rep, because its Kristen Stewart, and the plot line is generally a little disappointing. And I totally agree, I didn't go to watch it in the cinema and I wasn't going to buy it on DVD, but my mum bought it for me for my birthday, and I ended up watching it and really liked it. I won't give away any spoilers, but the ending was really disappointing, I really didn't like the way they left everything. Yet, for reasons unknown to me, I cannot stop watching. I know that one reason is Chris Hemsworth. I don't know if its the gothic horror twist on a fairy-tale, or the general concept of the film, but I really love it. To the point where it might as well just live in my DVD player.
5. Magic Mike
Oh lord, it's a little bit naughty, and honestly, im very surprised that this film made it as a 12, but wow is it good. And that's not just because of the all star (extremely hot) cast. I really liked the story, even though the ending was a bit of a let down. But I guess the focus wasn't meant to be on the plot line, it was meant to be on Channing Tatum's abs. It's a good film, I recommend it to all the girls.
6. Sweeney Todd
Another brilliant Johnny film again, with a sprinkling of Helena Bonham carter, which can never go wrong. I love this film, and I must admit, for a long time I was hesitant to watch it. Im not a huge fan of horror/slasher films, I cant stand needles, cuts, that sort of thing, and so this really didn't appeal. But it all looks so fake that it was absolutely fine. The songs are so catchy i actually bought the soundtrack. Its amazing, just the right amount of gothic horror and Johnny/Helena action. Loved it.
7. Shrek
It's not just for kids, alright. There are so many clever references to things that kids just wouldn't understand. There are so many cool references to real life things like Starbucks and the Hollywood sign. Its a film that never gets boring. Although I have to say the first is my favourite, but isn't that always the way for series', they tend to get worse the longer they go on. Unless it's Harry Potter or Toy Story. That is all.
8.Tangled
I am in love with this film!! It is adorable. Is it wrong that I just want my very own Flynn Ryder?! He's lovely, and the film is lovely, and you can't beat a bit of Disney. I recently bought my first car (post coming soon) and I decided to name is Pascal, after the chameleon in Tangled, because everyone says that I have hair like Rapunzel, all I needed was a sidekick and a prince. Now I've got one of two covered. Bring on Flynn Ryder/Eugene Fitzherbert.
9.The Chronicles of Narnia
Oh come on, if you don't get chills when they all shout "FOR NARNIAAAA!" Then you need to sort your life out. I love them. Perfect films for cuddling up under a blanket on a cold winter night. The second film in the series is actually my go-to ill film. You know when you're sick and you've taken the day off school, there's always that one film which you stick on and it always makes you feel a bit better. I think it's Prince Caspian. Damn, I seriously would.
10.The Hunger Games
The whole series, because I'm pretty sure that when the last film comes out I'm going to love it. I just really like the series in general, I liked the books, I like the films. J Law is one of my girl crushes - honestly she is perfect. Josh Hutcherson, also perfect. Just a perfect cast, makes the whole thing brilliant. I really like the outfits and the whole feel of the films, there is definitely the feeling that something big is coming throughout them and it's the perfect tense feeling because (unless you've read the books) it's not really clear what is going to happen until it does happen and then you're left hanging because tHE LAST FILM ISNT OUT YET!! Anyway, good film.
