So I'm in my last year of sixth form which means that for me, it's exam season (hence the reason for no posts for a while). It also means that there is a lot riding on these exams, they basically decide if I go to university or not. Which is terrifying and super crazy stressful! So I've thought up my top 5 ways to de-stress during exam season.
1. Take a bubble bath
I don't know about anyone else but baths are the perfect form of 'me' time. You can just sit and soak for a while, it freshens you up and gets you ready for anything.
2. Light some candles
I like to light scented candles when I work, because it helps me relax and stay calm, so I can concentrate better. At the moment I am burning the Black Cherry when I'm working and Black Coconut when I'm relaxing or in the bath.
3. Exercise
Usually, I am not pro-exercise, however sometimes a little bit of exercise can help you concentrate. I recommend if it's the weekend just waking up and going for a 20 minute run, enough to get the adrenaline pumping, so when you come back you are ready and raring to go. However, I know that sometimes I'm having a fat day and I don't want other people to see me running, in which case I stay in my room and in my pyjamas do a five minute exercise routine. It usually includes running on the spot, squats, sit-up's and stretching to warm down. The five minute routine is also perfect if you've been at school all day or you're getting ready for school.
4. Make a plan
Having a timetable always makes me feel more prepared for what is to come. This year I have invested in a year diary, which I have written all my exam dates and highlighted in bright pink. I have also made a revision plan on my notice board. It tells me what I need to revise and key information about each topic such as what percentage of my overall grade it is worth.
5. Take lots of breaks
I know it feels like if you keep walking away from your revision you aren't learning anything, but it's actually the opposite. You get more done because your brain is rested. You are more likely to stay concentrated during the revision that you do, if you give yourself 30 minute breaks every hour or so. But timings aren't the same for everybody. If you need to take a break after half an hour take one. Get up from your desk, leave everything where it is and go do something that you enjoy, so you feel rewarded for all your hard work.
